  • This May we celebrate Asian Heritage Month. We'd like to take a moment to recognize and appreciate the significant contributions and rich heritage of Asian Canadians. Asian Heritage Month is a time for us to learn about the history and achievements of Asian Canadians across the country, including right here in Nova Scotia.
  •
  • Did you know that one of the earliest records of Asian heritage in Nova Scotia dates back to the 19th century? Asian Canadians have been contributing to our country and province's cultural fabric for generations, bringing unique traditions and rich cultural practices that have shaped our community's identity.
  •
  • Notable individuals of Asian descent have made lasting impacts right here in our region. For instance, Dr. Biju Mathew(PRNOUNCED 'BEE-JEW'), author and historian, has documented the lives and stories of Asian Canadians in Nova Scotia, providing valuable insights into our collective history.
  •
  • As we go through this month, let us all reflect on the diversity and resilience of the Asian Canadian community. Their contributions to our society are invaluable, and this month serves as a wonderful reminder of that fact.
